To better understand the potential importance of open data for Nepal’s private sector the D4D Program funded FACTS Nepal to undertake research into business’s data needs and willingness to share data.
To excite the public about data and reach new audiences with data about their country and communities, the D4D Program hosted a public infographic exhibition at Kathmandu (Basantapur) Durbar Square.
To better understand the potential for open data to meet information needs at the local level, the D4D Program supported Foundation for Development Management to conduct a study into the open data landscape in 11 municipalities.
To support the use of evidence and coordination in the development of Nepal’s hydropower sector, the D4D Program supported Niti Foundation to develop an open map of hydropower projects.
To promote good governance and open data within the new federal structure, the D4D Program worked with Freedom Forum to host a national workshop to advance discourse on right to information and open government data.
To celebrate Nepal’s advancements in open data and sensitize a broad range of new audiences to its potential benefits, the D4D Program supported seven Nepali organisations to collaboratively host a large scale 2018 Open Data Day event.
To increase the availability, accessibility and use of solid waste management data and improve service delivery in Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the D4D Program supported Clean Up Nepal to develop the Nepal Waste Map.
To pilot an approach aimed at improving the accuracy, usefulness, supply and use of weather data, the D4D Program supported Rooster Logic to collect and open up hyper-local weather data.
To grow the availability of open mapping data and support evidence informed planning by local government actors, the D4D Program supported Kathmandu Living Labs to implement an OpenStreetMap project in Nilkantha municipality.
